Clock Set in Louis XVI Ormolu and Sevres Porcelain-Mounted Style with Roman numeral dial, with four-light candelabra

A Victorian Gem-Set, Gilt and Silvered-Bronze Clock Garniture. By Howell James & Co, London, the design by E. Finley, 1871. Comprising a mantel clock and a pair of three- light candelabra; the clock surmounted by a winged mermaid playing a horn, above the oval body, centered by a white enamel dial inscribed Howell James & Co / TO THE QUEEN / LONDON-PARIS. The twin-train movement striking on a bell, numbered 48/51 and inscribed ETIENNE MAXANT PATENTED PARIS, flanked to each side by a pierced scroll volute, on a square molded base, centered by a scallop-shell and coral, flanked to each side by winged hippocampus, on four feet; the candelabra en suite.
